Publishing/Holiday Party
The children published many books during the first half of Kindergarten. They decided to share two of them with the public.
The first book was an All About Book about seasons. We first studied what an informational book contains, then we chose a topic, next we made a plan, after that we researched and finally we wrote our book!!!!
The second book that the children published was a Mentor book. To create one of these books the children had to first decide on an author's craft that they really liked. The children decided on Todd Parr. This was perfect because Todd Parr is the author of The Peace Book that we have been reading during our Peace Unit. Before the students started to write we studied Todd Parr's style. We noticed that all of his sentences started with Peace is..., his illustrations were colorful and trimmed in black, his title was large, and his illustrations matched the sentences!!!! So you may notice that many of our books look similar, but they should since we borrowed crafts from our mentor book, The Peace Book.
Holidays Around the World
During the last month of the year we decided to do some traveling!!! WE all created our green suitcases, made a passports, got plane tickets and turned on our imaginations!!! We went to Israel, Mexico, France, Germany and the United States!!! Please view the pictures to see what we saw and learned.
